Visitors from abroad can also see how their ancestors traveled here and lived. It is, unfortunately, a hot spot for our friends from China as an ex-pat of theirs called Ah Lum became the interpreter for the town and also saved a fellow miner when he was caught in the current of a nearby gorge. His small home has been converted to an attraction and on inspection I couldn’t see where he would have placed his 100 inch plasma. However, I almost knocked myself out on the low entrance as I stepped back into the sunlight. Luckily, our Asian cousins do not possess the same sense of humour as those from my country because this would have definitely induced a snigger from them as I staggered forward trying to make it look like I had done it deliberately! I have a feeling this was retribution for my previous anti Chinese tourist rant.
