Jumping off a cliff at Cape Greco

jumping off a cliff

Fancy jumping off a cliff? Head to Cape Greco.

Cape Greco (Cape Grekko) is probably the most striking part of the southern half of the island that is Cyprus and there are two halves to it: the Protaras side and the Ayia Napa side.

Depending on the wind direction, the weather can be totally different on each side. Usually, the teeth of any pressure pushes up from Africa whitening the ocean near the shores of the turbulent teenage clubbers paradise that is Ayia Napa.

A couple of km’s up the road from the nightly hullabaloo are the Caves that also double as a cliff jumpers paradise. Take a right hand turn just before the lonely tree – where all the wedding couples have their picture taken – and bump your way down to the waters edge.  And believe me, this is not for the faint hearted.

There are many people that make the journey here and you can see why. The clear aqua water beckons everyone in, and, when you step over the edge to see the distance, the gap doesn’t look too wide! That is, until you actually think about doing it. The twenty something’s stand way too close to the edge egging each other on to make that jump! The thirty something’s stand a little further back and take longer to decide and those who are forty and above, clap!

And we were lucky enough to see two of the twenty somethings them make the jump. What sets us apart from each other is the willingness to take risks and these two chaps in the below video certainly did that.

How about you?

Would you make the jump?

See the video below and then you can make your decision!
